How do I register for the camp?
Go to the Registration page to find out how you can sign up.
What happens if I can’t come for all the days of camp? For instance, if I have to leave for tests or other official appointments?
You will be asked in the registration form for the days that you will be missing out on all the fun. If you find out about your appointment with the President only after registration, don’t worry, simply inform your Group Leaders (GLs) about it before the camp. If you are intending to join us midway, remember to get the contact numbers of your GLs so that they can tell you where we are.
(Your GLs will contact you through email or phone before the commencement of the camp.)
When and how do I pay the camp fee?
Simply pass the money to your GLs at pre-camp or on the first day of camp. Please try to bring the exact amount and make it less troublesome for your beloved GLs. :) And no, we don’t accept NETS or credit card payment.
Are there activities which require swimming or cycling? What if I can’t swim or cycle?
Non-swimmers or people who cannot ride two-wheeled vehicles, don’t worry. We will not leave you out of the fun or endanger your life. Your safety and enjoyment are high on our priority list. So leave all your worries behind and just go to the camp with the aim of having a good time. And if you were hoping that we will disclose some of the exciting activities in this answer, we are sorry to disappoint you. :D
Why do I have to go for NYS FOC (Freshmen Orientation Camp)?
One reason is that it is stated in terms and conditions of the scholarship that:
Scholars are required to attend all the Nanyang Scholars Programmes, i.e., Orientation, Award Ceremony and Leadership Training Programme, conducted by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid.
But the main reason is that NYS FOC is an excellent opportunity for you to expand your social circle even before you start school. You may find fellow hall mates, a potential soul mate, future meal buddies, coursemates etc. We seniors are also there to answer your questions about the joys and horrors of school life. Also, another benefit you can gain is an increased friends count on Facebook!
So just come with an open mind and we promise you will not regret it!
